CeramTec publishes first sustainability report
Today, CeramTec has published its first sustainability report. The publication provides insights into the company's ESG strategy and shows how the company intends to further reduce its impact on the environment in the future and further strengthen its position as a reliable employer. The sustainability report includes key figures from the areas of energy consumption, emissions, recycling management and employment in the reporting year 2023.
CFO Eric Oellerer: "The report is a milestone because it will enable our stakeholders to track our concrete progress in the area of ESG. As a company with more than 3,800 employees and energy-intensive manufacturing processes, we have a particular responsibility to operate even more sustainably in the future.”
CeramTec has been focusing increasingly on sustainability for years and has already implemented important measures in many aspects – including environmental protection, occupational safety and compliance. “We have now taken the next logical step and have formulated medium- and long-term ESG targets and action plans and have begun to develop our reporting accordingly and aligning it with the new requirements,” Eric Oellerer continues.
“In the future, we plan to publish a comprehensive sustainability report together with our annual report once a year.” By publishing the report at this time, CeramTec is already demonstrating its commitment to implementing the upcoming requirements of the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Although CeramTec and similar companies will not be required to disclose their sustainability figures for the previous year until 2026, the report already complies with the CSRD requirements in some respects. It therefore represents an important intermediate step on the road to full implementation of the EU directive.
