Looking beyond the horizon
After a break of two years, the time had come again: the social week in cooperation with Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land took place again!
The social week began for the second-year apprentices from Lauf with a joint journey to Schönberg. This was followed by a guided tour of the workshop and getting to know the respective foremen, supervisors and employees. Afterwards, the apprentices were divided into smaller groups and assigned to the individual workshops.
Lebenshilfe has been working for equal rights for people with mental disabilities since 1958 and has over 300 employees at the Moritzberg site. The individual workshops include the rocker arm works, which manufactures engine components for MAN, a carpentry workshop, gardening and landscaping and also a riding stable with horses and ponies. People with mental and physical disabilities work in each workshop.
All in all, the social week was not only a success for the training and positive for the personal development of each individual, according to the apprentice group's summary: "Above all, it was also very nice for us to see that our visit on site caused such joy among the Lebenshilfe employees and that they enjoyed it as much as we did. We therefore think that the project should also take place in future years for the second year of training."
